Skin tag removal at home is just one option. An other is to have them removed by a medical professional. In most countries the cost isn’t covered by medical insurance because it usually costs less than the excess of standard policies. It’s pricey nonetheless as skin tags can reappear fairly quickly and most doctors only agree to their removal if there is an urgent underlying reason for doing so. In the U.K. the N.H.S. can also remove them but would be considered a non urgent procedure and the wait for treatment may seem barely worth it if other options are available.

Dealing with skin tags and warts domestically has become so much easier in recent years.There are plenty of products available over the counter to help with this. This to can become an expensive hobby if you find yourself with a recurring problem. Some treatments are great in the beginning, however like the best medication for any ailment they often become less effective with time. The knock on effect is you lose faith in that treatment and it is back to square one.

Here are a few home removal techniques to consider:

Stopping the blood supply has been as effective method for many. Common fibers used for this process have included dental floss and sewing thread. More effective has been a strand of hair! If you want to try this simply trim the ends after tying the hair (or whichever thread like material you use) and leave it for about 48 hours. Do remember to check the thread is tight every so often. The skin tag should come off with minimum effort if successful.

Another method, albeit a more long drawn out one, is to apply clear nail varnish to your skin tags. This process must be repeated 3 times a day for as long as 2 to 3 weeks. If you are absolutely in no hurry to get rid of skin tags then you may want to try this.

This may sound surprising, but duct tape has often produced fairly quick results. It can vary person to person but all it involves is covering up the skin tag with a piece of duct tape over the offending tag. Once the tape loosens over a few days, remove it and the tag should be ready or near ready to fall off. If it isn’t quite there yet, apply some fresh tape and give it an extra day or so. The reason duct tape can an effective weapon against tags allegedly is due to the sizing ( the sticky substance ) and the material the tape itself is made from. Duct tape can come to the rescue for so much more than sealing duct work!

I have heard of some people sterilizing scissors or nail clippers and simply cutting skin tags off in one foul swoop. This method is definitely not in everyone’s taste. With other safer and less stinging ways to remove tags, you may wish to side step this if you’re at all squeamish or just unsure.

Between skin tags, warts and moles, nearly all of us will have one of these at some point in our lives. Skin tags are a common problem. Skin tags, although a touch unsightly are most often harmless. Only in rare extreme cases are they found to be malignant. If you do not normally have to deal with skin tags, it is highly advisable to clarify with your doctor. A biopsy can usually be done at your doctors surgery depending on where you are, and as in the rare cases mentioned above, could be a life saver.

These little flaps of skin can appear anywhere on the body. They show up particularly where clothes rub against you. Common places include the neck, groin, armpits and even eyelids do not escape. Women can find they show up if the under-wiring of their bra is tight and digs in, and vaginal skin tags can occur. Likewise with men, they too may find them showing up on the genitals.

Whilst most skin tags usually only measure a few millimeters in diameter, they can vary between less than a millimeter to a few centimeters or grape sized. Some are rather flat and cling to the body by whats known as a peduncle. Others may appear darker than the surrounding skin, these are said to be hyper-pigmented skin tags. They can be smooth or wrinkled, so you may find yourself with one or a combination of these.
